Mr Andersin Review Geek Girl #3

What is Geek Girl about ?

When ‘Little Miss Popular’ Ruby Kaye lands a pair of super-tech glasses (invented by brainiac college geek Trevor Goldstein) in a game of Strip Poker, she’s granted flight, super-strength, and – due to a flaw in the glasses’ programming – super-klutziness!

And this is just the beginning of the changes the glasses will wreak on Ruby!

On to the SEVEN QUESTION OF DOOM… Still working on the name

  • Was it worth the Cover Price?

Issue 3 is meant to be a jump on issues, so if you missed 1 and 2 it gives you that catch up flash back scene at the very beginning.   Which is nice cause that means the value of this comic is more than asking cause price of 2.99 on geekgirlcomics.com  as it saves you from having to buy the 1st two issues. You can just start reading issue 3 and begin enjoying the story.  But when you become a fan you can go back and treat issue one and two  as prequels.  SO YES the Cover price is very modest and worth it.

  •   Did it  leave me wanting a next Issue/continued story?

It seems to be building towards a bigger idea now that the origin is out of the way and we are seeing how becoming a hero has begun to effect Ruby.  There are some question to be answered including will she be blamed for a Death in the issue? SO yes I wanna see whats next.

  •  Was  I  entertained and excited to turn the page?

It is entertaining and at times seems to want to tell a deeper story of humanity that over time it may connect with. I think the writers were struggling to find the line of comedy and humanity for the story and sometimes that takes time and the right character match ups to help progress that part of the  story come out.  I can see in issue 3 they are making that turn and trying to tell a much deeper story.

  •  Did the story get me emotionally invested?

Yes it reminded me of the social cast system and how it is still very real and silly in the grand scheme of life.  It will be interesting to see how that dynamic is used in the future  telling of this story.

  •  Where the characters relatable &  interesting?

Its hard to relate to the main Character Ruby cause you do not know who she is becoming. However that journey of change is something we can all relate to. The story is still young and some of the characters are still unknown to us while others are clearly going away as Ruby matures in  this issue and is  moving forward in her life and reexamining what is important to her in her life.  So  issue 3 is where you are  meeting Ruby for the 1st time and seeing that is very interesting.

  •  Where there problems with the comic?

It feels like the story was  struggling to get off the ground in issue one and two dealing with the origin as most do but  I think that’s why this issue will be so important.  All sorties start with this cool idea that now that idea is growing into a series there are growing pain that a story has to go through.  Over the long haul I think all the change  will make the story even better.  If you think about the change Ruby’s life is going through  it only makes sense that the story is struggling to find its voice because Ruby has to  yet find hers. I think going forward the story will be come about her growth and less about being a hero.   I think that is an amazing journey to watch Ruby go through, after all are the glasses making her a hero or did it give Ruby  the opportunity for her to be the hero she always was?

  • Do I recommend this comic to  others  and what is the comics genre?

Yes this is a comic to get into.  It your standard super hero comic and is so far for most ages.  I can  see that big things are coming and it is going to be  a bumpy road  for Ruby that will show us the readers Ruby’s growth into the role of being a hero while showing how that changes Ruby’s life. It might  just show us all that their is a hero inside all of us.   Its story telling is clearly only going to get better.  Its hard to establish a world and than have an ongoing world that character can be part of.  This comic feel like its  the moment where this world get aligned  and changes it focus on to Ruby and sets up a massive story that is about to forever change Ruby and the world around her.  And Remember her powers come from those glasses what will happen if she loses them or they break?  Can she be a Hero with out the glasses?  Will she team up with the creator of the glasses at a point?  Will he make his own?  Time will tell…. and Yes
