WS had a FIGHT with the KICKSTARTER FIGHT OF THE CENTURY* SEVEN DEADLY KICKSTARTER QUESTION

WS:: What is your Goal and Why  That Goal amount?

Quite honestly, we’re looking to fund the printing cost of the series to offset what we are already planning to pay out of pocket. Plenty of KS campaigns are asking you to fund a project top to bottom or to fund a creators living expenses. We’re not here for that. We really just want to generate an audience for what we believe is a truly original and action-packed story. Our $5,000 goal is meant to secure an audience who wants to buy into this and to reward them for believing us and Rex (our main character).

WS:: Why is this project important to you?

We’ve both been hashing out this very elaborate science fiction world since 2014. So the labor of love aspect is key. But we also wanted to show up some of these very basic assumptions about what “diversity” means in comics. Too many publishers have been chasing windmills in a commendable effort to tackle diversity. But diversity isn’t the issue really. It’s culture. Culture is how you authenticate an experience.

Our fictional city of Neo-Rio, Brazil is a melting pot, and we wanted to create a culture from the ground up through that melting pot. Neo-Rio isn’t Brazil now. It isn’t American now. It is its own thing and you discover things about the cultures of the future through our story, hopefully.

WS: Why go through Kickstarter?

Ask us that again if we get funded. LOL!

WS:: What makes your Kickstarter Stand Out?

It’s a story about a man learning to be a man again. That’s just one aspect of the story, but we really started zeroing in on what it means to be a man in a corporatist political society. If you fully buy into corporate think (which is really group think) it creates a system where only one person can be at the top and everyone else is forced to be subordinate. Add BigPharma into the mix and then you get into why we drug kids (little boys, especially) when they act out in class. Is it because they are disruptive or is it really just a form of control? What happens when they grow up? This is what the drug company aspect invites to the story.

I know some people might find that hairy in 2017, but understand that we’re asking the question with no idea of what the answer is. It very well might not be what some might assume. It doesn’t have to be toxic. It might mean that men should embrace their nature instead of letting computers and modern medicine dictate our future. In the age of organic farming, craft beers, and Millennials pulling away from traditional family roles, I think that’s a unique angle worth examining.

WS:: Will this be an ongoing series?

We think this is a story you only tell once. That said, a follow up has been talked about. Fight of the Century is meant to be an opening salvo, though. This is intended to be the beginning of a line of comics with many different characters who will live in the action genre.

WS: How important are your Stretch Goals?

Everyone gets bumped up a tier if we exceed our goal, of course. So, if you like what you see on our KS then definitely tell a friend so you both get more out of FIGHT OF THE CENTURY.

WS: If you saw this project, pretending it wasn’t your what would you think of it and how would react to it and why?

I’d go, “Why didn’t I think of that?!”
