A 9-Year-Old female comic creator is a guest at the inaugural Megacon Tampa Bay! .THROW BACK to 2016

9-Year-Old Evie Dunn is the comic creator who is making history. As the comic book atmosphere continues to evolve and grow, female comic creators are finally breaking out and making some noise. Evie Dunn plans to contribute to that movement and she’s doing it while making sure to study for her upcoming vocabulary quiz.

Not only has Evie had a successful Kickstarter, produced a 2 part comic series that equals a total of 48 pages, and had her comic ranked high on ComiXology submit list, she’s possibly the youngest female comic creator to be published.

Evie started Fetch when she was 7-years-old with the help of her dad, Comic creator, Martin Dunn. The book originally was a therapeutic attempt at dealing with the loss of the family dog, but eventually evolved into a full-on graphic novel. The project was developed through a Kickstarter campaign that Evie herself helped run. She even obtained the services of the project’s penciler, artist, Dee Fish by asking Dee personally.

All-in-all, Evie is a hungry creator who thrives on her ability to use her imagination to tell stories. Her love of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and her ambitions of writing and directing movies has led her to want to create more comics, and this has led to her being invited to be a special guest at this year’s Megacon Tampa Bay. She is a Tampa Bay area native, so not only does she get the excitement of joining the likes of Rob Liefeld, Greg Rucka, Tony Bedard, and more, at the inaugural event. She gets to do it in her own backyard. She currently is listed as one of only 3 women on the guest list alongside her collaborator Dee Fish and K.T. Smith.

A little about Fetch: Odyssey.

Fetch: An Odyssey is a 2-part story created by 7-year-old Evie Dunn. It is the tale of a young girl’s epic journey to recover her dog, Rosco, who is being held in the heavens of Mount Olympus by Zeus the King of the Gods. Her journey will take her deep within the heart of Greek Mythology as she faces off with Poseidon, races against Hermes, negotiates with Hades, takes Ares to task, and makes a few deals with some Titans. She will make new friends, encounter wondrous creatures, and come face to face with Zeus himself! This book looks inside the mind of a child as she copes and comes to terms with dealing with the death of a loved one; it is a bittersweet story with a lot of love, pain, happiness, and more!

The story plucks on the heartstrings and reiterates the concept that when you love something that’s lost, you’ll do anything to get it back! Just like Odysseus, Evie’s epic journey forces her to tangle with the Olympians and do anything and everything to get her dog, Rosco, back from Zeus.

FYI she is the Daughter of a Mr. Martin Dunn who’s interview is below
