I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of Lady Death artist Dheeraj Verma from Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was hit with Covid in late April, put on a ventilator and never quite recovered.I first met Dheeraj while he was an artist on Escape of The Living Dead. We shared the same publisher and he had come to Comic Con International in San Diego. It was his first visit to the USA from India. I appreciated his excitement for comics and his depth of knowledge. I asked him what comic book professionals he wanted to meet. He listed off a bunch, and then he and I went about meeting as many as we could. It was a fun, bonding day.Years later, when I knew I was going to embark on new Lady Death stories, Dheeraj immediately came to mind. I asked him if he wanted to come on board and he agreed. Dheeraj was the artist on seven chapters of Lady Death from 2015 until 2018. We had a wild time together. I am eternally grateful for his contributions.I knew Dheeraj as a devout family man. He was quick to laugh, passionate about art, comics and teaching others. He will be missed.His family has set up a PayPal account for donations to help cover his medical and funeral expenses.
