PRESS RELEASE:: Making Plans

Hey INDIE ADVOCATES & INDIE FANS,

I hope you’re well. We’re just coming out of a crazy few days of great snow! For some of you that might be the norm but here on the south coast of England it’s a really rare occurrence! We definitely made the most of it! My kids and I totally wrecked our beach body boards sledging but it was totally worth it!
Like I mentioned last week, I’ve been crazy busy and the snow was a great excuse to take it easy for a few days! Now, don’t get me wrong I love being busy and working hard. But maybe just a bit too much! In the last 12 months I’ve run four Kickstarters (all more successful than the last (Whoop!)) and that can take it out of you! I love a good Kickstarter campaign and have to admit I’m a little bit addicted to pressing that Launch button! But whilst running all these Kickstarters has helped share the GalaXafreaks vibe they do have a downside and that is not being able to take time and reflect!
In the four years since I started drawing GalaXafreaks the comics have gone from strength to strength and the fans who buy the comic (you guys!!) have been a constant source of inspiration. However, I feel the time has come to breathe a bit!
Those of you that have been following along for some time know that I attribute a large part of my growing success in comics to the awesome Comix Launch podcast and the resources, community and support Tyler James has built around it. I recently caught up with Tyler over a video conference call and had a great time chewing the fat. It was a good opportunity to discuss plans for this year and to get a different perspective on what I’m currently offering you guys! Tyler had a completely different take on my skill set and it was really refreshing to look at things from a different angle! Thank you Tyler!
If you’re currently working on creative projects you’ll know that it’s hard to see the wood from the trees sometimes. When you’re really into it and all guns blazing you can get lost in the micro-management. If I can give you one piece of advice this week it would be find a moment to hang out and chat about your project with someone. Maybe talk about mid and long term plans and even ‘infinite possibilities’. Once you’re done write it all down ( I love a mind-map).
So, what’s next for me? As I’ve mentioned here, I’m taking my time a bit more this year. I’m currently planning just two Kickstarters for 2018, Cthulhu Kids before the Summer and Captain Yeah! Part 2 in the Autumn.
So that leaves me a bit of breathing room to start exploring ideas a bit more. And that’s where you guys can come in! I’d love a bit of feedback from you and you can help shape possible new projects!
Is there something you’d love to see me do? When you read GalaXafreaks do you think ‘Do you know what would be cool….?’
I’m really open to ideas at the moment so click here to reply and let me know!
As always, thanks for your time and feedback!
Shine On!
Andrew
P.S. Keep an eye for next week’s email; ‘Freaks, Monsters & Other Weirdos’ -A glimpse inside my latest sketchbook.
P.P.S. Snow is really cold! Once I’d scrapped our last body board I took the opportunity of the snow day (no work!!) to create this fun piece of Dredd fan art! Always fun to draw Mega City One’s finest!
