Why did you feel you need Kickstarters help to launch your project and will your goal if reached cover all the creative costs?

Honestly, because much like comics, radio is something you do for love and not to get rich. I work in small market radio, and as much as I would love to be able to completely finance a series of books, it’s not feasible at this time. Plus, as an independent creator, distributing through Kickstarter gives me as good – if not better – circulation than offering the books through Diamond as they are going direct to the reader. (That said, we do have a Retailer level geared towards giving them a solid risk/reward ratio for carrying the book.) Our base goal of $1,250 will cover the expenses on the book.

How did the creative team behind this Kickstarter Come together?

Ryan (Sergeant) first met on the digitalwebbing.com forums and teamed up for the first DREAH story back in 2002 for the DIGITAL WEBBING PRESENTS anthology. We later did the original graphic novel 51 DELTA for Arcana, but we’ve both always wanted to get back to DREAH.

What do you believe separates your Kickstarter from the thousands of other Kickstarters out there?

We are coming in with an established character – Granted one who hasn’t been very visible for a while now. Plus we are working in a genre that is really under served in the current market.

Is the Kickstarter the Start of something Bigger or is this a must have One Shot?

This is the second issue of the series and we have reward levels where backers can get both #1 and #2, so ideally we will be able to have enough backing to justify an #3 that will feature the ALL NEW origin of DREAH.

Are Stretch Goals something important to your project or just your way to give back to the Backers?

In this case, they are important. We have variant covers from original series colorist Joel Seguin and noted Fantasy artist Mike Hoffman that will be unlocked when we hit certain mileposts within the initial goal. If we hit a certain level past the initial goal, every one gets a portfolio of the variant covers without logos and trade dress.

If you saw this project, pretending it wasn’t your what would do you think of it and how you would react to it and Why?

I’d be intrigued. The cover is rather bold and a bit of a departure from the image of the character on #1’s cover. Plus Sarge’s art is fantastic, so I’d give it a shot.

What is the inspiration behind this project?

For the character, she was created at a point in time when Red Sonja was not being published and the anthology we were working on stuff for was wanting recurring features, ideally Fantasy stories with a strong female heroine. For this project in particular, it’s getting the later original DREAH stories that didn’t have the greatest distribution back out before the public.

Ok those are 7 Great REASON so Give em that Elevator Pitch,  Creator:

Fantasy/Adventure with a sense of fun, DREAH is basically Snow White as Robin Hood. (or, if you prefer, Red Sonja meets Indiana Jones.)
