KOKOMO-CON 2018 promises exciting ninth year guests, big auction, big contests highlight pop culture event

In just a few weeks, the biggest pop culture convention in north-central Indiana returns, and KOKOMO-CON 2018 is pulling out the stops to bring attendees an outstanding experience on Saturday Oct. 13.

“KOKOMO-CON is the convention that brings all the amazing sights and sounds of pop culture, mixes it with community, and produces something entirely new for a family oriented day out in Kokomo,” said organizer Shawn Hilton.

The 9th annual event, locally owned and operated and sponsored by Comics Cubed in Kokomo, HotBox Pizza, Thermodyn, Kokomo Toys & Collectibles, Geek Street, Kingdom Cards & Games.

Paul Allor, author of the sold-out “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Universe,“ as well as “G.I. Joe,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Nova,” and his creator-owned “Tet.” Other comics creators at KOKOMO-CON 2018 include Dan Dougherty, Stuart Sayger, Gavin Smith, and many more. All will be on hand to sign, sketch, and sell prints of their work.

The KOKOMO-CON Charity Auction to benefit the Geek Street Scholarship includes autographed pieces from some of the most sought-after celebrities in the world of pop culture.

And the KOKOMO-CON costume contest, held on the main stage of the convention, will feature a toddlers 4 & under, children’s category (12 and under), a men’s category, a women’s category, and a group category. With cash and prizes of over $500 dollars, it’s one of the most exciting and entertaining costume contests in the Midwest.

Dealers of comics, toys, games, steampunk, authors, and more will be on hand to sate the fans’ thirst for new and interesting items from the realms of fantasy, sci-fi, anime, super heroes, and of course with it being so close to Halloween, horror related items. A number of community-related booths also will be featured.

KOKOMO-CON 2018 takes place on Sat., Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Kokomo Event & Conference Center, 1500 N Reed Rd, Kokomo. Admission to the KOKOMO-Con is required in order to attend the auction, but there is no additional charge for participation, nor is there a buyer’s premium.
