Today is Election Day and I can not wait till tomorrow. I can not wait till we stop acting like a choose of who we support limits us as a person. Its ridiculous how much bullshit has been slung over the last year it makes my stomach hurt.
as creators I ashamed at many fellow creator. They threaten friendships and talked down to fans over something they really don’t control that being another persons right to choose.
Thank god it’s over.
I made a pledge to forgive all no matter who wins and In fact looking forward to seeing people grow from the experience.
The lesson on this is two fold, 1st do not have a public opinion if you can not respect others opinions. Spend your time working on your stuff and what you control stop being a spokeswoman or man for anyone else. Unless your paid to that is. I fact don’t even talk about politics as it will always upset at least 1 fan of yours.
The second part is understand we all do not need to agree. That is communism not something that many enjoy being part. Seriously if you think your friends need to agree with you all the time you need to grow up. True Friendship is the ability to disagree and still want them as a friend.
Some Creators have damaged their reputation and will deal with it for years to come. Now no matter who won accept it and move one. Did you know politics are not topics most company’s allow to be discussed by employees. Along with religion and sex. If you are calling your self a comic book creator you need to treat the profession with professionalism. Do not openly talk about these topics. YOUR A CREATOR so GO CREATE something that express how you feel with out you saying it. Have your character deal with topics and you may find your character don’t agree with you.
Its ok to not pick a side, Comic Book fan now know its ok to Like DC and Marvel. Its possible just like its possible to respect peoples opinions. STOP ACTING LIKE AN OPINION is a COMMAND you must follow.
Finally never put ANYTHING AHEAD OF YOUR BRAND. You are a brand and you need to look at public statements as something that can and will haunt you. And whats a public statement? EVERYTHING you say Write or Type when you are around people you do not trust with your life. You need to realize we live in a world of goggle-able pasts . So don’t add to the shit you’ll have to explain later.
Well its over now we can all go back to look at people as people not by who they support so lets do that.
