For this issue featuring the Origin of Gladiatra we have two amazing Gladiatra variants covers.

Cover B is by the artistic phenom and my longtime friend Franchesco! Our friendship dates back to 1993 when we met as he was promoting Scavengers for Triumphant Comics. It was early work for him but he had already gained recognition from pin-ups in the Comics Buyers Guide (the industry standard in trade publications at the time). This cover is not a recent piece as Franchesco! leans a bit his current work runs a bit more towards a painted style but this is an excellent example of the inked comic style that gained him fame in Green Lantern and She-Dragon. Colors are by award winning Marvel colorist Dijjo Lima who did an outstanding job.

Cover C was created by story artist, Eric Blake. I always try to have a cover done by the story artist to give readers a preview of what to expect inside. There are preview pages on the IndyPlanet website where all Argo Comics are listed but there are sites that just show the available covers. Eric’s talents are obvious and he has continued working with several publishers (including more pin-ups to be seen in Argo Comics as well). Once again, we were fortunate enough to have Dijjo Lima handle the coloring duties on this cover.

Clicking on “Cover B” or “Cover C” in the listing will have your cover of choice pop up. The default is the standard cover by Jeff Spokes (who blew me away with Aphrodite V released by Top Cow this month). Thanks to all these incredible talents!
