I have been talking about using comics in the classroom for years. At the beginning of my career in education, I worked with English Language Learners and used pictures daily and often to help give them comprehensible input about topics. Using some form of picture paired with text to promote understanding.

Now I am at my 13th year in education and just happened to spout off about using comics with struggling, reluctant and even regular readers to the right people. One being my partner, Brian Wenzloff, who is a booking agent for conventions with Asylum Conventions & Entertainment Services. He spoke to Kevin Boyd at MegaCon, and well the rest is ,as they say, history.

Crazy to think that one conversation on my soapbox about reading, could spawn the beginnings of my own little movement! I have spoken to dozens of educators and have 2 panels under my belt. I enjoy the ideas that come to me from like-minded individuals and hope that this is a forum for collaboration and networking.
