Why I Created Barbara UnLEASHED
Knowing I was Kinky was very clear from puberty. For me there was no world wide anything to look it up just yet. And I remember how scary it was and felt there was no one I could speak to about. After a little looking up information and reading how BDSM and Kink was looked at as, at the time, a mental disorder I thought I was to be a villain like the Joker.
A few years later the World Wide Web came to be and I found like minded and driven people. My education began but so did the understanding of how Dangerous BDSM is to new people. The same story emerged over and over again: The story of abuse when they first began their journey, how they were taken advantage of and the emotional and sometimes physical scars left from the experience.
At one point I even ran a group online and spent a lot of time talking to those who were abused and had their consent violated. Very often the stories were the same. Whether one a phone or online it was clear, as they entered into this they were not aware of the rules of BDSM play and the things that are meant to keep people safe in the lifestyle.
This was not their fault. New people are singled out on purpose so they can be taken advantage of. Being NEW is DANGEROUS. People are told things on purpose to be taken advantage of. More literature is needed. Literature like what I now have on Kickstarter. Bigger and much louder conversations are needed as well as knowing red flags, how to build boundaries and how to create a dynamic that is safety driven, and done with knowledge.
The Kink space cannot be driven by TRASH ROMANCE NOVELS like 50 shades of GREY. There needs to be something that educates and allows for self exploration. I have created such a thing. It is not perfect nor will it ever be. Instead it is a way to build your unique dynamic, play profile and be able to add up all the things you need to create a good outlook and strong sense of understanding. Even regular Sex education should be sought by Vanilla people.
